"I am having bad thoughts because I am exhausted "
Our internal compass can become strangely skewed at times. We might be struck by sudden, intense urges to make drastic life changes, feeling utterly convinced we should quit our job, walk out on our partner, or sever ties with loved ones.
A strange twist in understanding our minds: sometimes, the thoughts and emotions swirling within us have surprisingly little to do with the actual workings of the mind itself.
Our thoughts can be surprisingly swayed by seemingly mundane things – a skipped lunch, a restless night, a dip in blood sugar or problems going to the toilet.
It’s tempting to think we’re above such trivialities, but consider the wisdom of good parents. When a toddler throws a tantrum, they don’t assume a sudden personality shift – they know a nap or a snack might be all it takes to restore their little angel. The same goes for us. Sometimes a grumpy mood or a drastic idea just needs a reset button pressed by taking care of our physical needs.
Our thoughts and moods can be heavily influenced by our physical state, not necessarily by logic or reason.
It is important to acknowledge the role our body plays in shaping our thoughts and take care of our physical needs to maintain a balanced mind.
