Meet Katie Larking

Personalised Health & Nutrition Coaching for Women 40+

Feel better. Feel stronger. Feel like yourself again.

I'm Katie Larking, a qualified Health and Nutrition Coach with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Promotion.

I help women over 40, particularly women navigating menopause, who want to lose weight, improve their energy and feel healthier — without being given another generic diet or one-size-fits-all plan.

I believe your health is personal.

What works for one person may not work for another. Your age, lifestyle, nutrition, habits, goals, digestive health, stress, sleep and individual biology can all influence how you feel and how your body responds.

That's why I don't believe in simply telling you what you "should" eat.

I look at you as an individual.

Together, we work out what may be getting in the way of your progress and develop practical strategies that fit your life — so you can make changes that are realistic, sustainable and achievable.

Helping women 40+ feel energised, stronger and healthier

For many women, turning 40 and moving through menopause can bring changes that seem to come out of nowhere.

You may be eating the same way you always have, yet your weight is changing.

You may feel tired, sluggish or like you've lost your usual energy.

You may be struggling with digestive issues or constipation.

You may feel frustrated that the things that worked for you in your 20s and 30s don't seem to work anymore.

And you may simply feel like you don't quite feel like yourself.

You don't have to accept feeling this way as "just getting older".

My role is to help you understand your nutrition and lifestyle, identify opportunities for change and give you the knowledge and support to make those changes.

    My areas of focus include:

    • Weight and fat loss
    • Nutrition during menopause
    • Energy and vitality
    • Gut and digestive health
    • Constipation and dietary fibre
    • Healthy lifestyle and sustainable habits
    • Stress and its relationship with nutrition and wellbeing
    • Personalised nutrition and genetics

    My approach: personalised, not one-size-fits-all

There is an enormous amount of conflicting health and nutrition advice available.

    Eat this.

    Don't eat that.

    Cut carbs.

    Count calories.

    Fast.

    Don't fast.

    Take this supplement.

    Follow this diet.

    It can be exhausting.

    I take a different approach.

Rather than starting with a generic diet, I start with you.

We look at your goals, current nutrition, lifestyle, habits, challenges and what you would realistically like to change.

Where appropriate, I can also incorporate personalised nutrition and Smart DNA insights into your health strategy.

    The goal isn't perfection.

The goal is to help you understand your body, make better-informed choices and build habits you can maintain for life.

Why I became a Health & Nutrition Coach

My interest in nutrition started when I was young.

Born in Australia, nutrition and home economics was one of my favourite subjects at high school.

At just 14 years old, I decided I wanted to change my relationship with food and my health. I taught myself about nutrition, followed a structured eating and exercise plan and successfully overcame obesity.

    That experience stayed with me.

I learned early that knowledge can change the way you think about food, your body and your health — and that having the right information can make an enormous difference.

Years later, my passion for health and nutrition led me to study Health Promotion and continue developing my knowledge in nutrition, genetics and lifestyle health.

    Today, my goal is simple:

To help more people enjoy better health through practical lifestyle changes and nutritious food.

My interest in genetics and personalised health

My father's early-onset Alzheimer's disease at the age of 54 had a profound impact on my interest in long-term health.

His experience sparked my interest in genetics, nutrition and the factors that can influence health throughout our lives.

This led me to further explore personalised health and Smart Genomic Wellness Testing.

I am a Registered Smart DNA Practitioner, and where appropriate, I can use genetic insights as another piece of the puzzle when helping clients understand their individual nutritional and lifestyle considerations.

I don't believe a DNA result should define you.

It's information — and information can help us make better-informed decisions.

    I practise what I teach

My approach to health isn't purely academic.

I am committed to my own health and wellbeing, and I believe in experiencing the strategies I recommend wherever appropriate.

I've personally experienced the challenges of fat loss, maintaining muscle and changing body composition.

I also understand that health isn't about looking perfect or following a perfect diet.

It's about building a lifestyle that helps you thrive, not just survive.

I love weight training, walking in nature and connecting with animals, and I continue to study and research nutrition, health and genetics in my spare time.

    My fitness journey

My personal experience with nutrition and body composition has continued throughout my life.

I have placed 2nd and 3rd in the Over 40s Australian Natural Bodybuilding State Championships, giving me lived experience in fat loss, muscle development, resistance training and changing body composition.

I know how much discipline and consistency can be involved in changing your body.

But I also know that sustainable health is about much more than what happens in the gym.

Nutrition, lifestyle, behaviour, recovery and mindset all matter.

Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Promotion

My university education gave me a broader understanding of health and wellbeing beyond nutrition alone.

I studied a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Promotion (BAppSc), which strengthened my understanding of health education, behaviour and the factors that influence our ability to make lasting lifestyle changes.

This whole-person perspective remains an important part of how I coach today.

    The Fibre Counter App

I'm also the creator of the Fibre Counter App, a free tool designed to help people keep track of their daily dietary fibre intake.

I created the app because I believe dietary fibre is an important — and often overlooked — part of a healthy diet.

Fibre can play an important role in digestive health and is particularly relevant when working on areas such as regularity, gut health, weight management and overall dietary quality.

The app is available free on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

It's one of my favourite projects because it turns nutrition knowledge into something practical that people can actually use.

    My philosophy

I don't want you to spend years jumping from one diet to another, feeling like you've failed every time something doesn't work.

I want you to understand why you're doing what you're doing.

I want you to have the knowledge to make better choices for yourself.

And I want the changes you make to become part of your lifestyle — not something you have to "go on" and "come off".

My goal is to educate, empower and support you.

Because ultimately, you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide the knowledge, guidance, personalised strategies and support that can help you move forward.
